HoReCa Festival 2014 to Boost Makati Tourism

Hey Foodies and Travelers, I've got something to share with you guys. To boost Makati tourism and draw business travelers further to this city, the Makati Tourism Foundation, Inc. (MTFI) launched its first ever HoReCa Makati Festival 2014 with the theme dubbed as "Finest Footprint at its FIRST." HoReCa stands for Hotel Restaurant Café/Catering.

(From L-R) Mr. Voltaire Villegas, Mr. Alex Willats, General Manager of Dusit Thani, Festival Chairperson Ms. Triccia Dacer, MFTI President Dr. Elton See Tan, Ms. Catherine Agustin, Officer-in-Charge. DoT NCR, Mr. Farid Schoucair, General Manager of New World Hotel

Ms. Triccia Dacer, Chairperson and Main Proponent of HoReCa Makati Festival 2014 said that, "We wish to introduce to the general public the sector of HoReCa or Hotel Restaurant Café/Catering considered to be one of the fastest-growing touristic sectors in Europe and Middle East. HoReCa is considered specifically on hotels, restos, cafes and catering companies because they are believed to a pump-primer to propel economic growth due to high-rate employment especially in exhibitions that attribute high success rates in marketing and revenue generation of participating exhibitors. Hence, we trust that a similar principle is adoptable with the current market conditions in Makati."

With that said, they expect the public to be able to sip the finest coffees, savor the historical moment with the unravelling of great festive mood toned by the hotel-ambiance music and get swooned by roundtable discussions amongst industry leaders, practitioners and thought leaders and the best deal and promotional offers of the participating HoReCa exhibitors.

Ms. Triccia further explained that the MTFI is motivated by its advocacy for HoReCa Festival to be a small step but with big impact in promoting Makati City as the "Business Tourism Hub of the Philippines." "We want the public to know that doing business is not the only enterprising element found in Makati, in fact we want also to emphasize that business men, business travelers and tourists (local or foreign alike) are also attracted by Makati's recreational venues for family bonding like parks, old symbolic churches and other cultural heritage spots that veer towards the traditional Filipino way of family bonding and away from the technologically-driven culture of today."

DoT (Department of Tourism) also expressed their support on this festival to ensure the success of the Makati Tourism advocacy.

Meanwhile, Christian Pirodon of the InterContinental Hotel Group and Dr. Elton See of the E-Hotels Group, former and current President of MTFI, respectively expressed confidence of the success that the concerted effort of the HoReCa sector will bring to accelerate tourism in Makati. "We assure everyone that all competing participants from the tourism and hospitality industry stand tall together and we are united in bringing a boost in a platform of business opportunities and employment attraction in Makati," Pirodon and Tan said.
