Truth to be told, I don’t fancy flowers like so many girls out there that get giddy and have that kilig-feels when they received whether a stem of rose or a bouquet. Well, maybe I was just being practical then that I was thinking:
1. They won’t last longer and they’ll be in trash after a week or two.
2. And with that, it will be a waste of money. Money that can buy more important things.
But when a certain occasion calls for it, I would always say – one stem of yellow or red rose is enough; no bouquet please. However, throughout the years – my preferences change and my travels taught me how to appreciate them. My travel in Hong Kong inspired me to dream of a flower shop because the moment I saw a specific shop, I was at awed. It was so stunning and the ambiance was so refreshing and relaxing that I just wanted to stay there for a while… for the whole day and wanting to drop by every morning. Having those unique fragrances that each and every flower has is fulfilling. And with that, I told to myself – I’m going to have a flower business because I liked it that much but with a twist – it has a café that would serve whether a great tasting coffee or wellness juices. And so, every travels has an itinerary to a café and flower shop for inspiration.

I love coffee as much as I love my juices. Well, in order for me to function at work (in a corporate world) I have to jump start my day with a hot cup of coffee. And when I’m on a healthy diet, I would prefer juicing. I would buy fruits and vegetables and then juice them – that way, I could still have the nutrients that my body needed however, that’s not the usual case if I’m into a crash diet which I would not recommend because it is not good though, I’m trying to get rid of it and back to my juicing.
So, it was December last year when my cousin, who is a
florist in Resorts World Manila, and I were talking about business. Him and I, dreams
of having a flower shop so we decided to partner and put up our own brand – Flora Le Grand. We both live on a hectic schedule so everything happened on messenger,
from concepts, logo, theme, business registration, suppliers, and building its online
presence. Everything was discussed and agreed online. It’s good that app like
this exist to make our lives easier and get connected.

With the two of us being hands-on with our new
business ventures, he’s assigned to design, flower arrangement, pricing, working
with the suppliers while I, on the other hand, is assigned to marketing, admin
staff (paper works), creative design for marketing paraphernalia, web design
and photographer. That’s how we split the work – we maximize each other’s strength.

In February, we launched Flora Le Grand online – in preparation
for Valentine’s Day where the demands for flower is high. And yes, it was
successful! We received a lot of orders in and outside Metro Manila that we even
declined some of them because we can no longer accommodate. By the way, customer has an option to customize the bouquet based on their preferences.

Clients are also keep coming that they want us to
handle and design their event’s place. March was supposedly a jam-packed event
not until the lockdown because of covid-19; we closed a deal for an engagement
and birthday parties that could be a very great portfolio for Flora Le Grand
but glad that some just postponed the event and it will push thru once gathering
is allowed.

For now, we are working with more of creative arrangements and designs and also, looking for service expansions so that once the new normal started, we are also ready to welcome it.
