If you are someone who wants to travel as much as possible before you finally leave this mortal coil, and you want to have as many unique travel experiences as you possibly can in that time, then the Philippines should defintieky be on your travel bucket list, and if it’s on the list, then you are going to ewant to make sure that you also experience as much of the place, and it’s more than 7,000 islands as possible.

That’s a lot to fit in, right? But don’t worry because we’ve narrowed it down to seven experiences that you must have in the Philippines before you die, to get you started…

1. BANAUE RICE TERRACES (IFALI RICE-PLANTING ROYALTY)
Over 2,000 years old and carved into the mountains by the Ifugao people with nothing but grit and a serious love for rice, these terraces are basically the OG skyscrapers. Visit during planting or harvest season for the full green-gold glow-up. Hike if you’re feeling fit. Or stare in awe with a coffee in hand - both are valid.

2. EL NIDO, PALAWAN (BECAUSE HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH)
Towering limestone cliffs? Check. Secret lagoons? Check. Water so clear you’ll question your life choices? Absolutely. El Nido is what screensavers dream of. Rent a kayak, island-hop like royalty, and when you're done being sun-kissed and salty, treat yourself to some R&R at a boutique El Nido hotel. You earned it.

3. CHOCOLATE HILLS, BOHOL (NO, YOU CAN'T EAT THEM)
No, they’re not made of chocolate. Yes, they still look like they belong in a Dr. Seuss book. Over 1,200 grass-covered hills turn cocoa-brown in the dry season, and the view from the top is pure surrealism. Bonus: You’re close to the tarsiers, the world’s tiniest, most wide-eyed primates. Prepare to squeal.

4. ORTIGAS, MANILA (FOR A CHIC CITY BREAK)
Sometimes you want temples and beaches. Sometimes you want air-conditioning and cocktails. For a sleek city escape with malls, restaurants, and skyline views, Ortigas is your urban fix. Stay in style at a modern hotel in Ortigas that puts you smack in the middle of everything - ideal for foodies, fashionistas, or anyone who forgot their charger again.

5. TAAL VOLCANO, TAGAYTAY (FIRE, FURY, AND INSTAGRAM)
Want to hike a volcano that’s inside a lake that’s inside another volcano? Because that’s a thing here. Taal is dramatic, moody, and only a couple of hours from Manila. Just be sure to check activity levels before lacing up your boots - she’s small, but she’s spicy.

6. SIARGAO ISLAND (SURFER'S PARADISE AND CHILL ZONE)
Even if you’ve never touched a surfboard, Siargao will win you over with its palms, tide pools, and "wake-up-and-wander" energy. Cloud 9 is the wave to chase, but even land lovers can lounge their way to nirvana here.

7. VIGAN (COLONIAL COOL WITH COBBLESTONE CRED)
Horse-drawn carriages, Spanish-era houses, and the kind of charm you thought only existed in movies. Vigan is for the romantics, and anyone who appreciates a good Instagram backdrop. Grab an empanada and let the nostalgia sink in.

Final word? If you’re looking to spend some time int he Philippines, and you wnt to make sure that you get a little bit of everything, so you can truly know what the country is like, and why it’s so amazing, then these seven experiences should be top of your list, but don’t worry if you don’t fit them all in first time, because once you’ve had a taste of the Filipino way of live, one thing’s for sure - you’ll be back!
