Sunrise at Mt. Tapyas – Coron, Palawan, PHSunday, July 26, 2015
Whew! My journey to Coron is about to end already as I write this post but then moments always lingers on my memory and it would stay there forever. Our 3 days and 2 nights have come to an end and despite of the bad timing because of the bed weather during that time, no typhoons but it was raining, everything was a blast. On our day 3, we still managed to went to Mt. Tapyas and conquered the 742 steps going up and 742 steps going down or mathematically speaking 689 feet high, saw the stunning view of Coron and grateful that Mr. Sunshine showed up even for a while.
But before that, six of us from the group decided to pursue to climb to the Mt. Tapyas the next morning. Ate Joy of GastronomybyJoy.com and I, had our relaxing massage for us to be prepared on our mountain climbing. However, only Benjie of benjielayug.com and I were able to woke up early and Ms. Issa of Asia Grand View Hotel accompanied us. Well, since it’s my first time in Coron I should have to make the best out of it and I should visit every place or tourist destinations possible once time permits me to do so. So, here I am
Mt. Tapyas is at 210 meters above sea level and is the second highest mountain in Coron. It can be easily located and identified as it has the giant 5 letters C O R O N and the giant cross also lights up at night, so it is like a beacon that can be easily found and notice wherever part of Coron you are. For about 20 minutes, we reached the top though we are not physically fit enough because once in a while we were resting. Yeah, there are waiting sheds with bench where you take a rest while you are catching up your breath.
Well, I had a hard time and good thing, I have my YiCam with me to have some photo ops. Ha-ha. Some of the sheds were damaged because of Typhoon Yolanda and under construction though. It was a lovely and fine morning then, there were locals that make it as their morning exercise, where their jogging takes place. I guess, if I also live nearby, I am sure I am fit.
There’s always a reward when you reach the top and that’s the reward of seeing the beautiful Coron, a town rich in nature and the wonders of the world. The feeling of being at awe once you reached the top is inevitable.
The viewing deck is spacious; you can run like a kid and can even do the jump shot. It was pretty amazing. It was priceless. The view is breath taking. What I can do is just inhale and exhale, feeling rejuvenated and ready for the next battle of my life waiting for me in the Metro. Life is indeed beautiful so does the nature is.
By the way, don’t ever forget to bring a towel and water on which we forgot to bring during our hike. That’s why instead of spending some more time into the top, we decided to go time because we’re already thirsty. In a span of 10 minutes, we’re off to wave goodbye and went back to our hotel. We still have to do some shopping for souvenirs after breakfast and catch our 12pm flight. So, see you again Palawan, soon
