Solaire Mixology

It was gloomy and the rain pours on and off days ago but despite of bad bed weather I still managed to be present in an event where I can learn something about liquors, cocktails and the likes. What I’m talking about was the Solaire Mixology. It’s been always a pleasure to be invited to something that you’ve been, well, actively doing. Ha-ha. I admit I drink a lot but occasionally, don’t judge me, I am still on the phase of trying almost everything (I’ve been good for my 21 years of my life, during school days!) and drinking is one of those. As my friends says, live on the “YOLO” (You Only Live Once) mantra, yeah, we only lived once better have the best of it.

Going back to Solaire Mixology, it was 3pm in the afternoon, they briefed us on what’s going to happen in Finestra. The professional bartenders and the great F&B Team were there to patiently assist us during the event proper. We will mixing our own cocktails. Yah, of course with the help of Solaire’s amazing bartenders, everything was arranged properly so we can hook up easily, the ingredients/liquors were placed neatly and nicely. (The same scenario with the cooking but this time we’re doing it on the bar counter top). We made four cocktails namely Duchess, Margarita with Agave Caviar Pearls, Smoked Russian and Aged Negroni

And here’s the exciting part, we were tasked to do our own mix and it’s a contest! With a mix of cranberry juice, orange juice, tequila, soda water, and minty liquor and some shake up here, shake down there, shake to the left and shake to the right, we came up with this Sunset Finestra, our cocktails name! Since we were all girls in the group we decided to make a lady’s drink. Well, we’re happy with the outcome but didn’t make it as one of the winners. Ha-ha. Still, we’re proud of our own mix and the experience to able to try to make our own cocktail was already a prize.

It was an afternoon were our questions were answered and some of the techniques were shared. I will always love their spicy jelly and the jelly mojito that pops out in the mouth, it such a refreshing drink. So pretties, there are a lot of things to do in Solaire! An afternoon session while watching how the sun sets would be romantic and a glass of champagne or wine will surely complete the dreamy setting.

Meanwhile, after announcing the winners, we also got a chance to roam around the eight restaurant and bars that Solaire Resort has. A posh and elegant interiors of each restaurants and bars will definitely uplift your spirit to some level of sophistication – Strip Steakhouse which has an impressive wine and liquor collections, Yakumi that caters fresh seafoods and the best sushi, Red Lantern for a great selection of Dim Sum and a rare tea collections, Dragon Bar that has a wide array of well-known and worldwide drinks, the well-designed Eclipse, a sumptuous buffet lunch or dinner at Fresh, Finestra for your romantic and cozy night life, and have the best laksa noodle soup of Lucky Noodles.
