GANGWON: Morning Stroll at Alpaca World

Aside from theme park, temple, and national park, I also fancy zoo. My love for animals started with panda, flamingo and animals that I only seen on magazines and textbooks when I was in grade school such as rhinoceros, camel, lion, tiger, zebra, among others. Since then, I see to it that these are part of the itinerary. Unlike with my other travels which, most of the time, were spontaneous and basically, visited random places once we get there, my recent trip to South Korea was well-planned with detailed itinerary on what, where and how. Apparently, not my personality because I wanted my trip to be kind of surprising so I have something to be excited about – but more like of no expectation and just enjoy whatever the journey is.

A day with alpaca ♡

Moving on, when I saw the tour offered by Trazy KoreaA Day Tour at Alpaca World, Gubongsan Observatory & Jade Garden – I know, I should go there. I’ve never seen Alpaca in flesh yet so the trip to South Korea is a perfect timing plus, they are so cute, fluffy and adorable. These are the adjectives that makes me happy, to be honest, seeing alpaca pictures over the world wide web before the trip made me more excited. With that, the #AutumninKorea squad gave in, so we had a splendid morning stroll at Alpaca World. *insert happy dance*

However, Alpaca World is not quite accessible and DIY-friendly because it is located in Gangwon – a 2 hour drive away from Seoul – I strongly recommend to book your tour ahead for a hassle-free and more enjoyable adventure with the alpacas. On our case, we booked via Trazy Korea for ₱2,827 per person which includes pick-up & drop-off at Myeong-dong Station Exit 4 (you may also opt to choose from Hongik University,  Dongdaenum History & Culture Park Station or Myeong-dong Station; whichever is convenient or closer to you), one complimentary drink at a beautiful café at Chuncheon – Santorini Café, Entrance Fees and a English-speaking tour guide.

A quick facts about Gangwon – it is a mountainous, forested province in northeast South Korea. In the east, Seoraksan National Park has mountainside temples and hot springs. Odaesan National Park's gentle slopes lead to the Stone Seated Buddha, while the steep cliffs of Chiaksan National Park offer more challenging trails. Unfortunately, I haven’t visited any national park during this trip due to jampacked activities. Definitely, on my next trip to South Korea, this will be the top priority before doing random things.

But the most exciting part for me was feeding the alpacas and walking with them. The trick for them to follow you is that, to feed them. A fee of ₩1,000 (~₱45)  for a cup of alpaca feed, not bad for the experience though. More so, you can also mingle with other animals. It was amusing to saw healthy owls, birds, among others. If there’s a downside of booking a guided tour, it would be the time, there’s an alloted time for specific destination that’s why we haven’t reached the other attractions because our 2.5 hours were over too soon. Well, I’m pretty fine with the alpacas.  😊

A morning walk with the alpacas was indeed worth saving at the memory bank. I still feel giddy whenever I remember those moments where I get closed and touched their super soft fur. Plus, the struggle of walking and feeding them. Certainly, it was a great experience and must-do when in South Korea.
