Taiwan Strengthens Tourism Partnership with the Philippines at 2026 Taiwan Tourism Workshop in Manila

I’ve always had a special connection with Taiwan — from night markets and warm tea shops to peaceful mountain views and efficient trains, my trips there have always felt easy, safe, and full of culture. Every time I visit, I discover something new, whether it’s a hidden café in Taipei, a scenic walk in Jiufen, or the comforting warmth of Taiwanese hospitality. That’s why I was especially interested in the 2026 Taiwan Tourism Workshop in Manila, because it reflects exactly why Taiwan continues to be such a meaningful and enjoyable destination for Filipino travelers like me.

Taiwan Tourism Workshop Manila 2026

Manila, Philippines — On February 9, 2026, the Taiwan Tourism Administration reinforced the Philippines as a key growth market by launching the 2026 Taiwan Tourism Workshop – Manila at the Saffron Grand Ballroom, Lanson Place Mall of Asia. The event brought together tourism officials, airline leaders, hotel representatives, and travel industry partners from Taiwan and the Philippines to strengthen collaboration and promote future travel opportunities.

The workshop opened with a lively cultural performance that showcased Taiwan’s rich traditions, immediately creating a warm and dynamic atmosphere. To make the experience more immersive, guests were invited to participate in hands-on DIY activity stations that highlighted Taiwan’s creative tourism offerings. These interactive elements demonstrated how culture, craftsmanship, and experiential travel are playing an increasingly important role in modern destination marketing.

Key industry and diplomatic representatives were present at the opening ceremony, including Ms. Cindy Chen, Director of the Taiwan Tourism Information Center in Manila/Bangkok; Mr. Rick Hsieh, General Manager of EVA Air (Manila Branch); Mr. Ting-Sheng Lee, Deputy Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO); Mr. Ease Huang, Deputy Director-General of the Taiwan Tourism Administration; Mr. Paul Hsieh, General Manager of China Airlines (Manila Branch); and Mr. Jiun Chung Shiu, General Manager of STARLUX Airlines (Manila Branch).

Beyond showcasing tourism products, the workshop served as a strategic platform to discuss how Taiwan can further strengthen its appeal to Filipino travelers. Conversations focused on improving air connectivity, enhancing travel experiences, and deepening partnerships between government agencies and private tourism stakeholders. A major highlight of the program was the presentation of the “Taiwan Tourism Partnership and Boost Project,” which outlined Taiwan’s vision for boosting inbound tourism by aligning public initiatives with industry innovation.

Leading Taiwanese tourism brands and partners also introduced new travel offerings tailored to Filipino preferences. Participating organizations included the Taiwan Trade Center, Department of Tourism Taoyuan, The Landis Taipei, Sotetsu Grand Fresa Taipei Ximen, Kaohsiung Ahotel, The Grand Hotel, Cathay Hospitality Management, and airline partners China Airlines, EVA Air, and STARLUX Airlines. Their presentations emphasized diverse travel experiences, from urban lifestyle stays and cultural exploration to food tourism, wellness retreats, and multi-city itineraries across Taiwan.

The program featured opening remarks from Mr. Deng-Shi Yang, Deputy Representative of TECO in the Philippines, and Mr. Lysander Jaison P. Yang, President of the Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA), followed by a welcome address from Mr. Ease Huang. The event concluded with a ceremonial toast and group photo, symbolizing a strong and shared commitment to growing tourism ties between Taiwan and the Philippines.

As someone who has personally experienced Taiwan’s charm, I truly believe that initiatives like this workshop will make it even easier and more exciting for Filipino travelers to explore Taiwan — whether for food, culture, nature, or simply unforgettable travel memories.
