Makati Shangri-La Hotel

One of the best thing I would rather do when I have enough money already would be travelling and trying different hotels all over the world, plus eating! Well, I bet most of us would love that idea. As much as I don’t wanted to involved money on my travels as most of the legit travel blogger can do without it and even squeezed in everything on their itinerary on a tight budget, I admit I can’t. Maybe simply because I am a type of a traveler that would love to indulge on everything that a certain place has to offer – from best accommodation to great food – without thinking about the budget. Gee… good thing I have friends that I always called as my loves to support all my weirdest and wildest idea in a form of relaxation with a bit of luxury. Thanks loves and I love you to the moon and back!

In line with that, let me share with you our stay-cation in Makati Shangri-La Hotel sometime in December last year. Yeah, this is quiet a super duper late post. But still, I am going to write an entry about that wonderful stay because (1) this blog of mine is some sort of an online diary where I can share and store my real-life stories and day-to-day living; (2) I love seeing our photos every now and then and yeah, I only have limited storage; and (3) for those travelers, like me, who want to look a real photo of the place without too much drama.. Err... What I mean is too much cosmetics during their photoshoot.

Okay, let’s get started, shall we? We all know that Makati Shangri-La Hotel is a five-star hotel which also sounds price-y but it won’t stop our eagerness to stay there, for us to feel and experience what could a five star hotel could offer. Albeit, I’ve been to Makati Shangri-La Hotel for several times due to attending events that were held but never had a chance to at least see their rooms not until the day we had decided to have a short vacation there with my girlfriends. However, before finalizing our bookings, we tried to compare all prices that were available in the online booking site like Agoda but as we always do, we called the hotel directly and asked their ongoing promo (which is the Philippine residents’ promo, way cheaper) and voila, reserved a superior room, went to the hotel and checked-in. Payment was done upon check out.

Makati Shangri-La Hotel has been existing for many years. I’ve known this hotel since I was a kid. The hotel has a good location. It is accessible to the public transportation and taking a cab was not a problem at all. The hotel is a walking distance to Ayala Malls – Glorietta and Greenbelt – which offers a wide array of restaurants that would surely satisfies your cravings, we had seafood that night for our dinner which from the Red Crab (will share story about it on a separate post). Of course, from affordable to high end shops are also can be found in these malls. Valet parking is also available so you don’t have to worry for parking at all. Staying here was all hassle-free.

We had a superior room that has a magnificent view of Makati and Ayala Avenue at night, a spacious bathroom with separate shower, a complimentary Wi-Fi (a bit wonky though), with an indulgent 300-count cotton linen, soft and comfy sheets and pillows, and complimentary fruits. Well, our spacious superior room has an area of approximately 38-44 square meters, which gave us a comfortable and luxurious stay. By the way, this room is good for two but a group of four ladies, like us, fitted well on this room and made a gazillion memories. To those who loves movies and television shows, it has an LCD TV. But for those who wanted to have an own space and loves to write something, the superior room is also equipped with a full size executive writing desk, international direct dial telephone and electronic safe for your belongings. Ladies, no need to bring toiletries and hair dryer because Makati Shangri-La Hotel already provided those necessary stuff that woman needs.

Came night, we have invited our friends to drop by and enjoyed a glass or two of red wine. Yeah, we’re more up to wines than with beers. No, it is not a sign of aging but we just trying to have a pleasant and smooth with a bit of well-appointed night with our loves! So, cheers for that!

We woke up late but still in time to have breakfast. Since the complimentary breakfast at the Circles is only good for two, we just paid for the extra two which was amounting to more or less P1100. I liked and loved how foods were replenished from time to time. Circles has a variety of food selection from American style to Filipino to Korean and many more. Breads were of different sizes and shapes and flavors. It was indeed a good breakfast and looking forward to another breakfast there with the boyfriend, P.

Time ticking so fast and little did we noticed it was only two hours before the checkout. As much as we wanted to stay a day longer but we had errands to attend to that day. Thus, right after breakfast, we stayed in the pool, lounging and talking about life, future, plans, business and anything under the sun while having the splash of the water in pool sound plus kid’s laughter playing on the backdrop.

Separation anxiety, that’s the feeling we had in every vacation and staycation upon checking out. Life is really beautiful you just need to know and choose wisely on how you are going to deal with it. Mine, I choose to live it with a grateful heart and count my blessings instead of misfortune. There you have it! All-in-all, i love our stay in this hotel and would surely book for a second time. By the way, one of the girlfriends is coming home, we’re thinking of Nobu Hotel or Fairmont Hotel or maybe here again. Let’s see!

Have a great night and always be happy!
