Operation Smile 30th Anniversary Plans for “The Journey Home”

I attended an advocacy event last week held at Mandarin Hotel located along Paseo Roxas, Makati City.
It was the OPERATION SMILE 30th Anniversary Celebration. In line with this they unveiled their plans for their anniversary celebration dubbed as “The Journey Home.” Shamcey Supsup, the reining BB Pilipinas & Smile Ambassador Janine Togonon and other personalities were also present.

10 international Missions. 9 Sites. 3 Weeks. 30 Countries. 1,000 Volunteers. This is Operation Smile’s upcoming 30th Anniversary by the numbers.
Operation Smile, an international children’s medical charity that traces its roots to the Philippines (in Naga City, Bicol to be exact), is set to conduct 10 missions in 9 different sites across the country for 3 weeks participated in by a thousand volunteers from 30 countries for its homecoming dubbed as “The Journey Home.” How I wish, I am one of the thousand volunteers who will participated on this good deeds and be one to witness the SMILE on every child’s face after the operation.

30 years ago after the American couple Bill and Kathy Magee first set foot in the country, Operation Smile is coming back to the Philippines to provide surgery and related health care to indigent children and young adults afflicted with cleft lip, cleft palate and other childhood facial deformities. Angel and Chadleen Lacdo-O are the two beautiful girls who are born with cleft palate but now they can face the world without any inhibition and pursue their dreams because of Operation Smile.

It’s nice to know that Operation Smile helps a lot of children to regain their self-esteem and go on with their life without any facial disabilities thru their medical mission and surgery. So, if you know someone who has cleft lip or cleft palate or the likes. Kindly take note of the schedule of “The Journey Home” as follows:

October 26-31 in South Cotabato Provincial Hospital, Koronadal;
November 8-18 in Bicol Medical Center, Naga City; Mother Theresa of Calcutta Medical Center, San Fernando, Pampanga; Teresita Jalandoni Memorial Provincial Hospital, Silay City, Negros Occidental; Northern Mindanao Medical Center, Cagayan de Oro City;
